What Employers Must Know

There are 12 national holidays, and it gives the government the right to create national holidays based on their needs. The government is currently issuing one-time holidays twice on election years to let the population have better voting access.

Employees are not obliged to work on national holidays. However, if the employee must work on a national holiday, the employer has the right to give them extra compensation based on the contract. Employee Benefits During Dominican Republic Holidays

Employers must give their employees a paid leave of at least 14 working days a tear. Once they are already five years with the company, it will be increased to 18 working days in a year. An employee has the right to have a vacation after a year.

However, the bonus must not exceed 45 days’ worth of their salary for those who have not reached three years. The people who are not entitled to a bonus are those working in the forestry, industrial, and mining companies.
